The layout and decor of the rooms was modern and appealing. The bed was comfortable. The cooked breakfast was very good
The towels could have been a bit bigger.
The staff were very helpfull. The room was clean and functional. The food was good.
The arrival at the Hotel was complicated with poor vehicle access. The car parking arrangements were too far from the hotel. We were happy with our stay but the price was high for the quality provided.
The staff were friendly food was excellent views magnificant
There was nothing to dislike
I nice beachside hotel. It had eveything, location location location...
The Wifi could have been a bit better... The signal was very weak in room 12...
The location was excellent with superb views over the harbour and ocean. The staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful. The food was good, well presented and there was a good wine list to go with it.
The only - slight - downside was an inability to connect to the internet.
The closeness to the beach, the views and the facilities provided with kitchen!
Great location right on the seafront. Nice food in the restuarant (when you can get it) and great breakfast.
Disconcerting to be presented with a receipt for bill payment on arrival (payment already taken!) together with a list surcharges that might be payable - parking, lost keys, smoking fines, etc - and being obliged to sign acceptance of these charges - some welcome! Sea view suite was a strange arrangement - at the rear a very small bathroom eating into the space in the bedroom and making that small, then unnecessary space given to a kitchenette with a seaview. Driving to the hotel (to drop off bags) is possible along Marine Drive, as advised by the hotel. Don't try this on a busy beach day - the drive is effectively pedestrianised and full of tourists - a very stressful few hundred metres, which you then retrace to get to the garage. Service at the restuarant was poor for late lunch - after two requests for service and a 25 minute wait, we left before placing an order. There are other very good cafe / restuarants on the front toward the Cobb.
Great location in Lyme and a nice room. We didn't use the kitchenette to its full potential, but it was still a good bonus feature of the room.
I worked in the hotel industry for years, so this stay was quite a disappointment. We arrived in time for a late lunch and were very hungry so we headed to the restaurant straight away. When the server came to get our drink orders, we told him we were ready to order food. At this point, he said that the kitchen staff were backed up and weren't taking any food orders for the next 10 minutes. So, we waited... Only to be told 10 minutes later that our food order would take a minimum of 40 minutes. We were actually thanked for leaving the restaurant without ordering! I would have expected our drink order to be comp'd, but it wasn'T. We did enjoy very nice breakfasts in the dining room, though. Don’t try to eat there during busy times! It is utterly irresponsible for the reception desk to only be open from 8am until 6pm. If you expect guests to pay to stay in your hotel, you simply must be there to provide for them! At 6am I woke up one morning, my pregnant belly pressing on my bladder, only to find the door from our bedroom to the kitchenette and toilet was stuck shut. We were locked in, with no one to call for help. In fact, there isn’t even a phone in the room! The Bay has the potential to be a very nice hotel but, in its current state, the level of service for such an expensive place is unacceptable. At the moment, it really shouldn’t be calling itself a “hotel”.
The bay was in the best spot and the Thai resterant next door was the best
The price of the room for what u got was to dear
The location on the sea front and the quality of food.
I thought that it was overpriced at £180 for two for one night B & B.
We have always wanted to stay at the bay and we both needed a break so we picked the bay pity the weather was poor but we enjoyed it and will return
Nothing to dislike
The cramped stairway and reception
Our room was excellent with a suite of three rooms overlooking the beach. The standard of service was mixed, good in the evening poor in the morning. Our reasently refurbished suite was described as superior this was an apt discription even at £140 a night.
Location for the beach is amazing. The siute was clean & comfortable.
The bedroom and ensuite shower room was very cramped.there were no residents lounge/bar given that this is an hotel. There was no lift and on site parking. Given the price of the room with breakfast therefore the Bay gave poor value for money and was more a self catering small flat over a bar/cafe rather than £180 per night hotel
